Xbox optical cable hack

Eh, maybe I got Panasonic confused with some other manufacturer. Could've sworn there was a list too, but I can't find it anymore. HDMI has a noticeable lag, which isn't a big deal as you can calibrate most rhythm games. The other problem is with the hacked cable option your xbox resets itself if you turn off your HDMI source because a change of display requires a reboot of your xbox.

If you like to leave your xbox downloading overnight you might want to change the settings so it downloads with the xbox switched off to avoid this issue. It will occasionally drop down to a lower resolution p for "protected" material, like a DVD, if you use component.

The washed out colors issue the had over VGA was solved over a year ago. It looks fine. VGA also looks nice over my projector with my Mac mini connected to it. EDIT: Regarding audio lag, some receivers have an audio delay feature allowing you to compensate for this issue. May be worth it to look into the manual. VGA being washed out, is more a function of the TV than the device.

Now that you can go from standard to expanded colour settings this is not an issue, however you will absolutely find that different games were made to different settings. There really seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. One studio will have their game made with standard video in mind, another with extended, and then it really gets frustrating when you find the same studio uses different standards across releases.

This means you kind of have to eyeball it for each individual game, but then it is also glaringly obvious when the setting is wrong, so at least it's easy to correct. About lag, this is usually a problem with the video. Audio lag can happens with high end receivers also, but you can easily have lag from just the video alone, evidenced if using the TV speakers for instance. It's possible to try to compensate for this with your receiver by syncing, but this only hides the problem and willlnever neutralize the issue.

If you are giving a game input based on what you see at any given moment and it is some number of frames behind the game as the device sees it, you will only ever have a diminished window of time with which to respond for defence or to get in your attack.

There are p Xbox games. They are rare, but they are there. Ars Praefectus et Subscriptor. Originally posted by gekigangerv: HDMI gives you a signal cable for audio and video. Ars Scholae Palatinae et Subscriptor.

Originally posted by milan VGA! So the cable should be fine. It feels like some software issue or bug I got due to something? Also weird it gives my soundsystem a dts signal or DD. Yet it comes out as stereo. Simply explained My center speaker does not work when playing Xbox games Is this a bug, a hardware problem????

What should i Do? I need help with Dolby Digital 5. I use a optical cable and I also connect my ps4 on the xbox. But I noticed when playing the last of us that I did not have real surround even my yamaha system was showing Dolby Digital signal. Yet the sound did not come from my central speaker like when you shoot of talk. At first I thought it was cause I was connecting the ps4 that this was the issue.

Cause when I use my guide menu or the main menu of the xbox system. Then 5. But in all my games it doesn't. The Xbox has a very inconvenient "feature" of rebooting whenever the display reinitializes the HDMI port. On some displays like my new monitor the handshaking completely freaks out the xbox and sends it into an endless reboot loop even when I just leave the input selection on HDMI.

After some serious digging in some really long threads on other AV forums I found a solution: you chop a black looping wire. This effectively kills the component portion of the cable turning the connector into, more or less, an optical "dongle. Snip snip. At this point, the "cable" portion of the connector is no longer active. Slice slice to ditch the three feet of vestigial wiring. Copious amounts of electrical tape. Anyway, I thought I'd PSA and explain the easy fix that took me a decent amount of looking around for because I had absolutely never heard of it.

Maybe it will help someone. Well, ttyl. Thanks for the walkthrough Good information to know! So you're only using it for audio and running component video then?

Both consoles still have full use of WiFi and have dedicated LAN ports available on the back of the system. For the past few years now, [Downing] has been working on the dream of all console modders — a console made in the last ten years made portable.

Not just one console, either: this thing makes both the Xbox and PS3 a handheld, battery-powered device thanks to some awesome wireless tech and a great deal of skill. A few months ago, [Downing] and friends [Hailrazer] and [RDC] started a Kickstarter for the Cross Plane, a portable device that uses a wireless HDMI transmitter to offload the heavy and hot parts of running a game to a console, while the display and controls are kept portable.
